What to expect
Start the day with pickup at selected hotels in Auckland, or at a centrally located meeting point. You’ll board a coach for the trip to Waitomo, enjoying a morning snack as you pass through rolling hills and farmland. Upon arrival in Waitomo, go underground on a boat tour of the Waitomo River, where twinkling glowworms provide the only light in a series of caves and caverns. After the Waitomo Glowworm Caves tour, pause for an included picnic lunch and continue through the Kaimai Ranges to Matamata. At the Hobbiton Movie Set, join a guide for a behind-the-scenes tour of the film site for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, where director Peter Jackson recreated the world of Middle Earth.
